तेलंगाना के नलगोंडा जिले में स्थित 800 वर्ष प्राचीन “छाया सोमेश्वर महादेव” मंदिर की विशेषता है कि दिनभर मंदिर के शिवलिंग पर एक स्तम्भ की छाया पड़ती रहती है पर वह छाया कैसे बनती है यह आज तक कोई पता नहीं कर पाया। दक्षिण के मंदिरों की वास्तुकला आज भी पुराने स्वरूप में विद्यमान है।
